The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum Foundation is a non-profit private entity supervised by the Region of Crete, with head offices in the main village square in Myrtia (Varvari), Municipality of Nikos Kazantzakis.

Founded by Yiorgos Anemoyiannis, its charter gained state legal status under Government Presidential Decree of 2nd March 1984.

The Foundation is managed by a seven-member governing board consisting of:

• Diana MANOURA, teacher (member)
  
  
• Lefteris CHARONITIS, film director (member)
