Travels (Italy, Egypt, Sinai, Jerusalem, Cyprus, the Morea)

Summary information

This is a substantially revised version of the 1927 Taxidevontas [Travels], involving the removal of the chapter on Spain (Travels I: Spain had been published in the meantime), and the addition of impressions from Jerusalem, Cyprus (1926) and the Peloponnese (1937). These had appeared in an early form in the press, in Eleftheros Typos (Palestine & Cyprus, 9-10.5.1926, 13-22.6.1926 and 18.7.1926) and Kathimerini (Morea, 7.11-21.12.1937). We know from Kazantzakis’ letters that in the spring of 1957 he was reworking the impressions from his travels in the Middle East.
